Meadowfarm Go Down 9-1

Clean Shaven gave Meadowfarm their first lesson in 5-aside football with a 9-1 drubbing. Clean Shaven, league Champions for the last 3 seasons and beaten only once which was in their first ever game, showed there experience and ripped through Meadowfarm's young side.

Things started well for Meadowfarm who for a while looked very comfortable and nearly took the lead in the opening minutes when Jimbo struck a curling volley just wide of the top of the post. Clean Shaven were then Shocked as new signing Joel Perera struck the ball into the back of the net from just past the halfway line to give Meadowfarm the lead. Talk of the lead was soon all over the sports center as it looked like Clean Shaven had finally met there match. Soon though their experience shone through as they quickly drew level slamming the ball into 41 year old keeper Wilmshurst top corner from what looked an impossible angle to score from. Moments later Clean Shaven made it 2-1 firing the ball into the bottom right hand corner of the veterans goal. Subs were made before and during the half time to try and turn things around for the Farm and things seemed to look better in the second half as Jimbo, Chris Moore, Eddie Waldron and again goal scorer Joel Perera all came close on several occasions but the goal fest continued for Clean Shaven as they finally ended the game with 9 goals to Meadowfarm's one. Clean Shaven's Martyn Davies bagged himself 4 goals to take his total league goals to 18 in his Concord Thursday night league career while Ryan Harrison added a further 2 goals to make his running total an amazing 53 goals. Adam Rawlings could only manage 5 minutes coming off the bench due to his back injury which has caused him problems over the last few weeks and now looks a big doubt for next weeks game with Rivals Phoenix. Chris Deighton made an effortful appearance to the delight of the Meadowfarm fans and looked steady in the ten goal thriller.
