The Macclesfield Sunday Night 5 a side League Kicks Off!

Last night (8th July) saw the launch of the first season of The Macclesfield Sunday Night 5 a side League. Teams from across the region - split into two divisions - will compete over the next ten weeks for promotion places, in relegation battles and for the ultimate prize of the league title – plus each division has a golden boot and golden glove award!
The opening match in the Premiership saw Harchester United Reserves impress with a 5-1 victory over Macc-a-teers. Two goals a piece from Harchester’s Nick Kershaw and Alasdair Breed and one goal for Colin Hinchcliffe secured the points and top spot at this early stage of the season for the Harchester team! Adams Boy’s also got off to a flying start with a hard fought victory over Adelphi Group, eventually running out 6-3 winners - thanks to a hat trick from Richard Loveanberry, a brace from Martin Firith and Jimmy Fairweather weighing in with the other goal. Adelphi Group and Macc-a-teers will take heart from their opening performances but there is a long way to go before the Premiership title is settled!

In the Championship, Black Cats FC set out their intentions for the season with a fantastic 7-0 victory over Senor Aerospace BWT taking them straight to the top of the table. Oliver Ward was their star performer getting his season off to the best possible start with four goals! E.C.G. looked equally impressive with a 5-0 win over Duct Tape FC with Mark Bunting hitting an opening night hat trick! As all teams know, it is early days and the race for the Premiership has only just started!
