Match Night news:

Dave Egg F.C. Win The Sheffield Thursday Night Premiership Title – Autumn 2009

22 Jan 2010

Thursday 3rd December saw Dave Egg F.C confirmed as Sheffield Thursday Night Premiership champions, for the first time in their history. Joga Bonita took the runners up spot, with Dad’s Army in third.

After ten seasons in the Premiership, Dave Egg F.C. completed a sensational season to be crowned Premiership champions for the first time in the club’s history.  They eventually won the title in style, some four points clear of their nearest rival.  Led by captain James Wood, the team have always impressed, but have never quite had enough consistency to be true title contenders.  However, this season it all went right for the team, who can be proud of winning the title against arguably the toughest opposition and highest standard we have ever had in The Thursday Night League.  It means Dave Egg are deserved winners and will no doubt be looking forward to defending that title next season.

Dave Egg FC - Premiership Champions!

Joga Bonita completed a great first season in the Premiership to take the runners up spot.  Led by captain Bjorn Taylor the team adapted quickly to the Premiership and looked like real contenders.  They have shown they have the skills and consistency to go all the way in this division and will be looking to do just that next season. Dad’s Army, runners up last season, finished a respectable third.  Last season’s defending champions, Winco Boys, eventually finished in fourth, but were amazingly only seven points from the top spot – showing just how tightly fought this season was.

Joga Bonita - Premiership Runners Up!

The golden boot was some consolation for Winco Boys, as star striker Darren Richardson picked up the award for the third season in a row.  His record of 45 goals ranks as third on the all time records for this division, a fantastic achievement against some tough defences.

The golden glove capped a great season for Joga Bonita, as they picked up the award with a record of just 31 goals conceded, some twelve goals better than their nearest rival.

Congratulations to all teams who took part in a great season.
