Norfolk Enchants Win The Chesterfield Monday Night League One Title - Autumn 2009

Monday 8th February saw Norfolk Enchants crowned League One champions and gain promotion to the Championship. Runners up and final promotion spot went to Williamthorpe United.
Norfolk Enchants, led by captain David Hall, stormed to the League One title and into the Championship - finishing the season eleven points clear at the top. It was an unlikely and remarkable title triumph for the team. Norfolk Enchants had spent four seasons in League One and had finished bottom of the pile last season. However, they were a transformed team this season and look like they could be a real handful in the Championship.
Norfolk Enchants - League One Winners!
The race for the final promotion spot was a fascinating contest as four teams, Williamthorpe United, AFC Wazzak, Super Bad and Hasland Horse Hung, all went into the final night of the season with dreams of promotion. It was Williamthorpe United, led by Chris Worthy, who held their nerve to win 3-1 against promotion rivals Hasland and secure the runners up spot. That ended a great season for the team and means they are now back in the Championship for the first time since the winter 07/08 season.
The golden boot was shared between Norfolk Enchants’ captain David Hall and AFC Wazzaks’ Mark Gunter who both finished the season with 20 goals.
The golden glove capped a great season for Norfolk Enchants as they won the award with a record of 23 goals conceded.
