Inter Anything Win The Sheffield Ladies Premiership Title – Winter 2009/10
07 Apr 2010
Thursday 18th March saw Inter Anything crowned Premiership champions and Real Betty’s confirmed as runners up.
Inter Anything have already broken most of the records in The Sheffield Ladies League. They have now gone one better by becoming the first team in any Match Night league to win four titles in a row. A fantastic achievement by the team, led by captain’s Steph McCoy and Louise Webster. The goals of Cheryl Mawhood and Claire Webster, were a big factor in this season’s title triumph. The deadly duo fired in 78 goals between them and finished one and two in the golden boot table. The team will no doubt be looking to make it an incredible five in a row next season. However, this season has seen some hard fought games for Inter Anything, against the likes of Real Betty’s, Wild Kats and Stellartubbies. In addition Stocksbridge Park Steels ended Inter Anything’s 37 match unbeaten run, with a sensational 5-3 win against the champions. This may therefore mean that the dominance of Inter Anything may well be under threat!

Inter Anything - Premiership Champions
Real Betty’s completed a good season and finished runners up for the second time in their history. However, they will feel they could have pushed Inter Anything a lot closer and will be hoping to mount a serious title challenge next season. Stellartubbies followed up last season’s promotion with a very credible third place finish and Wild Kats had another solid season in fourth. Dinno Divas, runners up last season, had a season to forget which ended in relegation to the Championship. Stocksbridge Park Steels found the Premiership a little too hot to handle and return to the Championship, after just one season in the top flight.

The golden boot went to Inter Anything’s Cheryl Mawhood for the third season in a row, with a season tally of 41 goals. Team mate Claire Webster finished in second, just four goals behind, with a record of 37 goals.

The golden glove made it a clean sweep for Inter Anything, as they picked up the award with a record of 30 goals conceded.
