The Chesterfield Monday Night 6 a side League Kicks Off!

Last night (22nd May) saw the launch of the first season of The Chesterfield Monday Night 6 a side League. Sixteen teams from across the region - split into two divisions - will compete over the next fourteen weeks for promotion places, in relegation battles and for the ultimate prize of the league title – plus each division has a golden boot and golden glove award!
The Premiership season got off to a flying start in a great opening match in which both sides impressed but Sixt FC eventually ran out 5-0 winners over Boy’s Aloud, with Sixt FC team captain Nathan Benger firing in a hat trick. The next two matches were close battles with PSV Hangover edging past Chesterfield Cobra’s 2-1 thanks to goals from Matt Cole and Paul Inger. Athletic Potato recorded a narrow victory over Tupton AFC 1-0 with Damon Walters scoring the only goal of the game to secure the three points. The final match of the night saw North Wingfield Gladiators set out their stall with an impressive 7-0 victory over the unlucky Two Left Feet – goals from Daniel Banbury (3), Gary Gilthorpe (2), Simon Jenkinson and Chris Briscoe gave the Gladiators the points and puts them top of the table at this early stage.
Action from the first night
The opening match of the Championship season saw Danesmoor Vikings F.C. impress with a 5-0 victory over Wildgoose, with Aaron Large firing in four goals and Richard King one. In the second match of the night the Brett Martin team got off to a flyer with a 7-0 victory over Mint F.S.L. John Parsons (4), Dean Booth (2) and Robert Spence the goalscorers in a great win which puts Brett Martin top of the league after the opening matches. The final two matches of the night where closer encounters with Hemerage wining 4-0 against Makes Sense Athletic through goals from Mark Mowbray, Dale Navin, Chris Smith and Richard Wrigley. Colcrete Eurodrill then edged out rivals Wingfield Wanderers in the final match of the night thanks to a Ben Howarth goal.
