Mixed Mayhem Storm To The Sheffield Netball Premiership Title – Spring 2007
26 Jul 2007
Last night (25th July) saw Mixed Mayhem crowned Premiership winners once again making it three titles in a row! W.S.S.C. took the runners up spot for the second season in a row.
Mixed Mayhem rounded off another outstanding season and title victory with a 30-20 victory over Shooting Stars, completing a 100% season record of 14 wins out of 14! Led by team captain Lesley Athorn-Mico the team fired in 447 goals, with an average of nearly 32 goals a game, on their way to a hat trick of titles. The three times Premiership champions eventually won the title an impressive 22 points clear of their nearest rivals, making them well deserved winners of The Sheffield Netball Premiership! They will no doubt be looking to make it four titles in a row next season…………..the question is can anyone stop them!
Mixed Mayhem - Three Times Premiership Winners!
The race for the runners up spot was hotly contested and going into the last night of the season three teams, WSSC, The Shadows and Shooting Stars, all had a chance of grabbing second place. In the end it was WSSC who held their nerve in a close contest against Braunettes to run out 18-13 winners and take the runners up spot for the second season in a row. They just edged out The Shadows on the narrowest of margins thanks to a six goal better goal difference! It was disappointment for The Shadows, but it was a fantastic first season in the league for them and they will no doubt feel they can break into the two top spots next season. At the end of the season, the second and sixth places were only separated by 12 points – showing what a tight contest this competition has been.
W.S.S.C. - Premiership Runners Up!
It was a tough season for the two newly promoted sides with both Women With Balls and The Toyoda Girls heading straight back to The Championship. They will, however, both feel with a season’s experience in the Premiership they can bounce straight back next season and be better equipped to face the Premiership challenge next time round!
Congratulations to all teams who took part in what was a great season. We look forward to another memorable season starting on Wednesday 15th August.
