Flying Foxes Win The Sheffield Netball Championship – Spring 2007
26 Jul 2007
Last night (25th July) saw Flying Foxes crowned as Championship winners and gain promotion to the Premiership. They will be joined next season in the big time by division runners up MBC!
Flying Foxes lived up to their name and completed a fantastic season with an 11-6 win over Ha Ha, meaning they only lost one match all season – and that was to runners up MBC! Led by team captain Colleen McKarney, The Flying Foxes stormed back to the Premiership at the first attempt after last season’s disappointment of relegation. They will no doubt feel after such an impressive season long display and with Premiership experience under their belt they can now make the leap to The Premiership and hopefully stay there next season!
The runners up spot went to MBC which represented a fantastic improvement for the team that finished bottom of the Championship last season. MBC, however, did not have it all their own way and second spot was up for grabs up until a few weeks ago with all teams within a shot of promotion. However, it was MBC led by captain Laura Cummings who held their nerve to finish the season on a nine game unbeaten run and grab the final promotion spot. Court Out finished third for the second season in a row and will no doubt be looking to break into those elusive top two spots next season!
MBC - Premiership Bound!
Congratulations to all teams who took part in what was a great season. We look forward to another memorable season starting on Wednesday 15th August.
