Champs are crowned Sheffield Netball Championship Winners – Autumn 07

Wednesday 14th November saw Champs win the Championship title and Women With Balls take the runners up spot in one of the most exciting climaxes to a season in a long time!
Entering the last night of the season three teams, Champs, Women With Balls and Green Goddesses were separated by just three points. All three teams had a shot at the title and one of the two promotion spots on offer. The fixture list had thrown up a winner takes all match with Champs and Green Goddesses clashing! In a fantastic match Champs held their nerve, in a tight contest, to grab the victory 17-15. This guaranteed Champs a promotion spot at worse and condemned the unlucky Green Goddesses to third place. It was, however, a fantastic season for The Green Goddesses after finishing bottom of The Championship last season!
Champs then had to wait and see if Court Out could do them a huge favour against title rivals Women With Balls. The Women With Balls team knew a win or draw would hand them the title. In another pulsating match the Court Out team delivered an amazing performance to upset the odds by winning 19-18. A result which crowned Champs Championship winners. Led by team captain Natalie Harding the Champs have now lived up to their name and are well deserved winners of their first title! Women With Balls had to settle for runners up spot but can still be proud with their part in a fantastic title race!
