Hinchliffe Hydraulics storm to The Sheffield Netball Premiership Title – Autumn 07
21 Nov 2007
Wednesday (14th November) saw Hinchliffe Hydraulics crowned as Sheffield Netball Premiership Champions with Mixed Mayhem clinching the runners up spot!
Hinchliffe completed a sensational first season in The Sheffield Netball Premiership with 50-4 victory over Shooting Stars. This meant the Hinchliffe side had won their first Premiership title in style with a 100% record of 14 wins out of 14! Led by team captain Lisa Hampshire the side topped the table from the very first match and never looked like being caught as they eventually clinched the title by 12 clear points. The Hinchliffe side also set two new records, on their way to the title, that will be tough for any team to beat. They recorded the most goals scored in a season - an incredible 542 in 14 games plus they achieved the highest goal difference record with +408! It was a sensational season long display by the Hinchliffe team who are well deserved winners of The Sheffield Premiership title!
Hinchliffe - Undeafted Premiership Champions!
Three times winners Mixed Mayhem had to settle for runners up spot, but they did push the new champions close in both of their season’s encounters with, Hinchliffe edging out the defending champions 19-15 and 34-27. However, with three title wins and one runners up spot in four seasons it’s an impressive record and we are sure they will be determined to regain the title again next season! Braunettes completed a good season finishing in third - a massive improvement on last season’s sixth place. MBC took the fourth spot which is a fantastic achievement by the newly promoted side in their first season in the Premiership. They are the first team to retain their Premiership status after promotion!
Mixed Mayhem - Premiership Runners Up!
Flying Foxes found it tough back in the Premiership and were relegated. The final relegation slot was a fascinating contest with MBC, Shooting Stars, Dream Team and The Shadows all in danger of the drop with a few weeks of the season left. It was, however, The Shadows that could not save themselves and are relegated to The Championship for the first time. Along with Flying Foxes they will both start as favorites for promotion and will hope to bounce straight back next season!
Congratulations to all teams who took part in what was a great season. We look forward to another memorable season starting on Wednesday 10th December
