Mixed Mayhem Win The Sheffield Netball Premiership – Spring 2008

Wednesday 9th April saw Mixed Mayhem confirmed as Premiership winners for an amazing fourth time in the teams’ history. MBC took the runners up spot to complete another good season for the team.
Mixed Mayhem bounced straight back after last seasons’ disappointment of losing their Premiership crown, with a fantastic season long display to take the title once again. The team lead by captain Cath Askwith lost only one match all season - that to third placed WSSC, as they marched toward their fourth title in five seasons! It is a fantastic record and no team in any Match Night league has ever won a Premiership title more times. It means Mixed Mayhem have set a new record that will be tough to be beat! The question is, can anyone stop them making it five titles next season?
Mixed Mayhem - four time winners!
Mixed Mayhem, however, did not have it all their own way this season and were made to work hard for the title by the rest of the division. None more so than MBC who pushed Mixed Mayhem right to the line . The MBC team also ended the season as the highest scorers in the league with 498 goals in 15 games! MBC have improved every season and have acquitted themselves well to the Premiership after promotion two seasons ago. In their first two seasons in the big time they have finished fourth and now runners up. Led by Kath Knight they must feel they can mount a real challenge for the title next season! WSSC finished a creditable third this season and impressively, they recorded wins over both the top two teams! Phizzers, in their first season in the league, finished a respectable fourth and more then held their own in the division.
