Elite Win The Sheffield Netball Premiership – Summer 2008

Wednesday 20th August saw Elite crowned as The Sheffield Netball Premiership champions in their first ever season in the league! Four time Premiership winners Mixed Mayhem took the runners up spot.
Led my team captain Katy Burnett, Elite stormed to the Premiership title - winning the league in style, only losing one match all season, that to runners up Mixed Mayhem on the last night! The team fired in 475 goals and only conceded 195 on their way to the title as they completed a dream first season in the league. It was a fantastic all round team effort that gave Elite their first title and they will do doubt be looking to make it two in a row next season!
Elite - Premiership Champions!
Mixed Mayhem pushed Elite close for the title, in the end only finishing four points behind the champions taking the runners up spot. Mixed Mayhem now have a record of four titles and two runners up spots in the six seasons they have competed in the league. An amazing record, plus with victory over Elite in the last match of the season, they will feel they have set down a marker for the new season as they look to regain the title. MBC completed another good season in third and will be looking to break back into the top two spots again next season. It was mixed fortunes for the two newly promoted sides Westways and The Shadows. Westways impressed with a top four finish which included a victory over Mixed Mayhem. Westways will feel they can now mount a serious challenge on the top spots next season. The Shadows, however, found the Premiership tough going and are relegated after just one season back in the top flight, along with DLA Divas. Both teams will be looking to bounce straight back next season! Braunettes finished the season in fifth. It was the team’s eighth consecutive season in the Premiership, longer than any other team!
