Champs Win The Sheffield Netball League One – Summer 2008

Wednesday 20th August saw Champs confirmed as League One winners and gain promotion to the Championship. Pink Ladies took the runners up spot and final promotion place.
Champs, led by captain Natalie Harding put last season’s disappointment of relegation behind them as they bounced straight back to the Championship at the first time of asking. The team completed a fantastic season with a 31-16 win over Eckington Red Wings on the last night of the season to take the title and make them well deserved winners. They only lost one match all season, which is a fantastic record. They will no doubt feel they have nothing to fear next season as they look to make a big impact in the Championship. Champs have now won both the League One and Championship titles in their history, meaning all they have left is the Premiership to complete the set!

Pink Ladies pushed Champs right to the wire finishing just four points behind them to complete a great season for the team, finishing runners up and gaining promotion the Championship. It represents the team’s first honour in the league in the three seasons they have competed. They were also the only team to beat title winners Champs all season and fully deserve promotion. The ever improving Pink Ladies, led by Laura Taylor, will feel, along with Champs, they can make their mark in the Championship next season. Eckington Red Wings threatened the top two spots all season, but in the end just missed out in third, but will feel they have a real chance of promotion next season.
