Match Night news:

Netbelles Win The Sheffield Netball League One Title – Winter/Spring 2009

01 Jul 2009

Wednesday 24th June saw Netbelles crowned The Sheffield Netball League One winners and gain promotion to The Championship. Runners up and the final promotion spot went to Creator.

Netbelles, led by captain Ali Adams, put last season’s disappointment of relegation behind them, as they bounced straight back to the Championship at the first time of asking, with a sensational season long display.  Netbelles took the division by storm with seven wins in their first seven games.  A little wobble half way into the season, with losses to title rivals Creator and Charnock Chicks, could have cost them dear.  However, they made no mistakes in the run in to the season and held their nerve to clinch the title by seven clear points.  They will feel they are now better equipped to deal with the challenges of the Championship this time round and will be looking to make a big impact in the new season.

Netbelles - League One Champions!

Creator, relegated alongside Netbelles from the Championship last season, looked as though they were going to continue to struggle in League One, losing their opening three games.  However, led by captain Ruth Proctor, the team  went on an incredible run of eight wins in a row to put them in real promotion contention.  A vital win over promotion rivals Charnock Chicks in the penultimate night of the season, followed by a win over HLM in their last game sealed the runners up spot for the team and promotion back to the Championship.  Charnock Chicks just missed out, finishing in third on goal difference, but they will feel they have a real chance to break into the top two spots next season.  The ever improving Irwin Mitchellettes had an impressive season in fourth and now look like real promotion contenders for next season.

Creator - Runners Up!

The player of the season award went to Emma Richardson of HLM Hornets with a fantastic record of 9 nominations - one ahead of Irwin Mitchellettes’ Claire Hunt in second.

Congratulations to all teams who took part in what was a great season.
