Mixed Mayhem Win The Sheffield Netball Premiership Title – Winter/Spring 2009

Wednesday 8th July saw Mixed Mayhem (renamed Dynamix for the new season) crowned Sheffield Netball Premiership winners. Elite finished in runners up with MBC in third.
Mixed Mayhem completed another great season, with a 35-8 win over Court Out in their final match, to confirm them as Premiership champions. This latest title triumph, adds to an already bulging trophy cabinet, as it is the team’s sixth title in eight seasons’. The team, led by Cath Askwith, did not have it all their own way and were made to work hard for their latest Premiership crown. Elite, The Toyoda Girls and Stardust all put up tough opposition this season and MBC’s victory over the six times winners, suggests Mixed Mayhem may find it even tougher next season!
Mixed Mayhem - Premiership Champions!
Elite took runners up spot for the second season in a row, just four points off the pace. Losing both games against champions Mixed Mayhem cost them dear. However, Elite still impressed and will no doubt be heading into the new season looking to regain the title they won two seasons ago. MBC, the only team to beat Mixed Mayhem, finished in third, but will feel with more consistency they could be real title contenders next season. The ever improving Stardust finished in fourth, their highest placing to date. The two newly promoted teams, Court Out and DLA Divas, found it tough going in the Premiership and both are relegated back to the Championship. Court Out, however, battled right to the end giving The Toyoda Girls a big scare, so they can be really pleased with their performances this season.
Elite - Premiership Runners Up!
The player of the season award was jointly won by star players Sam Gaymond (Stardust) and Rachel Hall (The Toyoda Girls). On their way to the award, both players have now set a new Premiership record of seven nominations in a season.
