The Flying Foxes top the Championship in the Summer/Autumn 09 season, and soar into the Premiership

The Flying Foxes completed the Summer/Autumn 09 season, crowned as Champions.
They have spent two seasons in the Championship following the disappointment of relegation from the Premiership in Autumn 2008. They will be joined in the Premiership next season by their close rivals, Wickersley, who finished in the runners up spot, also after completing two seasons in the Championship.
Flying Foxes - heading back to the Premeriship!
It was a tightly fought contest for the top spot, with little between the two contenders all season. Going into the last match, Flying Foxes held a 1 point lead over their rivals, so all they had to do was take full points from their final match against already relegated Northstars. There were no last minute hiccups, with the Flying Foxes storming to victory with a 34-17 win. Wickersley also took full points from their final game, beating third placed Champs, but by that point the title spot was beyond their reach.
Both teams have Premiership experience and will no doubt feel ready to cement their position in the top flight next season.

Champs completed a good season, finishing in third, having taken points from the title leaders and improved upon their sixth place finish last season. Netbelles will also be pleased with their fourth placed finish having being recently promoted from League One.
It was less good news for Northstars, who were promoted along with Netbelles at the start of the season, and who now head back down to League One with just 23 points. Also relegated are DLA Divas who have made it two relegations on the trot - having started 2009 in the Premiership. In fact DLA Divas have either been promoted or relegated in their last four seasons.
The player of the season award was shared between four players; Eve Ellison of Wickersley, Mwiza Kapenda of Netbelles, Fiona Phoenix of Champs and Rekha Ravichandran of Northstars.
