The Shadows Win The Sheffield Netball Championship Title – Winter/Spring 09/10

Wednesday 9th June saw The Shadows crowned The Sheffield Netball Championship winners and gain promotion to the Premiership. They will be joined in the big time next season by division runners up Champs
After the disappointment of relegation last season, The Shadows made no mistake this season as they completed a swift return to the Premiership. Led by captain Sarah Wrigley, they stormed to the title and into the top flight ten points clear of their closest rival. Seasons are never dull for The Shadows, as they have now either been relegated or promoted in six of the last seven seasons. This is also the third time they have won the Championship title, making them the most successful team in this division of all time. A title we are sure they would happily swap for Premiership success next season!

Champs were the surprise package of the season, as they completed a sensational promotion winning campaign, eventually securing the runners up spot in style and some nine points clear of Braunettes in third. Captain Jo Knight, has now led the team into the Premiership for the first time in their history. This is a fantastic achievement and one all the players can be very proud off. However, the Premiership has been a grave yard for newly promoted sides over recent seasons, so both Champs and The Shadows will be hoping to change that trend next season.

The player of the season award went to Court Out captain Katie Liddell who ended the season with a superb nine nominations. It was the joint third highest tally of all time and makes her a well deserved winner.
