Pink Ladies Win The Sheffield Netball Championship Title – Summer 2010
22 Dec 2010
Wednesday 10th November saw Pink Ladies storm to the Championship title and into the Premiership. They will be joined next season in the big time by runners up Braunettes.
Pink Ladies, led by captain Sally Smith, completed a sensational season which saw the team win their first ever divisional title. A title they won in some style, finishing the season ten clear points ahead of their nearest rival. Star performers this season were Kerri Woolf and captain Sally Smith, who led by example, as both players finished with four player of the match nominations. The team have experienced the Premiership before three seasons ago, however, that time it ended in disappointment and a swift return to the Championship. This time the team look like the real deal and will feel they are better equipped to make a big impact on the Premiership.

Pink Ladies - Championship Winners
The runners up spot and second promotion place went to Braunettes. They were pushed all the way by the rest of the division, in what was one of the most evenly matched and exciting seasons for some time. At the mid way point of the season the margin between the promotion and relegation places was minimal. However, led by captain Geraldine Fox, Braunettes held their nerve to claim a well deserved second place. This marks a return to the Premiership for the team after a four season absence. As previous Premiership runners up, they will look to call upon this experience as they tackle the challenges next season. The relegation battle went to the wire, but Flying Foxes saved themselves with a victory on the last night of the season, avoiding the disappointment of back to back relegations. Mavericks failed to beat Wickersley in their last game, a result which sent them back to League One after just one season in the Championship. DLA Divas, promoted with Mavericks last season, are also relegated. However, both sides put in some good performances this season and were not too far off the pace. In fact, Mavericks finished the season with the least goals conceded out of the whole division.

Braunettes - Championship Runners Up
The player of the season award was some consolation for Mavericks, as star player Abby Fletcher, won the award with an incredible record of eight nominations.
