Dynamix Win The Sheffield Netball Premiership – Winter 2010/11

Wednesday 27th April saw Dynamix crowned The Sheffield Netball Premiership champions. Champs finished in runners up and Wadsley Jack in third.
In a sensational season that went right to the wire it was Dynamix, led by captain Rebecca Wheeldon-Wright, that held their nerve to claim their seventh Premiership title. Dynamix were pushed all the way by the ever improving Champs team, eventually only winning the title by goal difference. It marks a welcome return to winning ways for Dynamix who, had gone three seasons without lifting the Premiership title – an extraordinary statistic for a team with Dynamix’s record. The Dynamix team are clearly back to their very best and will no doubt be looking to make it back to back titles next season. The Premiership line up for next season looks like being the toughest to date, so it is all set up for another superb competition.
Dynamix - Premiership Champions
Champs, led by captain Jo Knight, recorded their highest ever league finish by going one place better than last season, to claim the runners up spot. They will no doubt be disappointed to miss out on the title on goal difference, but the team are getting stronger every season and will feel that their first Premiership title is in their grasp. The battle to avoid the drop also went to the last night of the season, as The Shadows and Pink Ladies went into the final games separated by just two points. Both sides were unable to clinch that vital victory, which meant The Shadows were relegated back to the Championship after just two seasons in the Premiership. The Shadows have become accustomed to yo-yoing between divisions and will hope they can bounce back next season. The Pink Lades on the other hand will be delighted to secure their Premiership status for another season, after promotion last season, they will be planning to build on this result to become an established top flight team next season. Braunettes were the other team to be relegated after just one season back in the Premiership.

There was some consolation for The Shadows as star player Nicola Christian won the player of the season award, which a superb seven player of the match nominations.
