Match Night news:

Mixed Mayhem Crowned Sheffield Netball Premiership Champions – Winter 06/07

16 Mar 2007

Wednesday 14th March saw Mixed Mayhem make it two Premiership titles in a row with W.S.S.C. taking the runners up spot.

As the last night of the season got under way the Premiership title was still up for grabs with Mixed Mayhem holding a slim two point advantage over their rivals W.S.S.C.  The defending champions held their nerve and, after a few initial scares in their match against last season’s runners up NHS Dream Team, ran out 32-19 winners and claimed the Premiership title once again.  Lead by captain Lesley Athorn-Mico it completed a fantastic season for the Mixed Mayhem team who now have two titles in the two seasons they have competed in the league and will no doubt be looking to make it a hat trick next season!

Mixed Mayhem - two Premiership titles in a row!

Mixed Mayhem, however, did not have it all their own way this season and were pushed right to the wire by W.S.S.C who completed an outstanding first season in the league and took the runners up spot by thirteen clear points.  The team, lead by captain Nicky Blank, will now feel they have a real chance of taking the title next season. Third place went to Braunettes for the second season in a row, but with a 17-17 draw against W.S.S.C. in their last match, they will hope to take that form into the new season and mount a challenge on the top two spots!

W.C.C.S. - Premiership Runners Up!

The relegation places were settled a few weeks ago with Flying Foxes and The Hoods dropping down to the Championship next season.   The two teams clashed in the last night of the season with Flying Foxes recording their first win of the season, which will no doubt be a huge boost ahead of the new season as they look to bounce straight back to the Premiership!

Congratulations to all teams who took part in what was a great season.  We look forward to another memorable season starting on Wednesday 18th April.
